About DanceXchange
DanceXchange is Western Australia’s first eco‑friendly dance shop and costume Xchange, created to make dance more affordable, sustainable, and accessible for every family. Located in Willetton, we operate like a boutique op‑shop for dancers — offering thousands of new and preloved costumes, dancewear, gymnastics gear, dance shoes, hair accessories and so much more for children through to adults.
Our shelves are filled with 7,000–8,000 items, giving dancers and non‑dancers alike an affordable, creative, and environmentally conscious way to shop.
Our Story
Founded by Tania Emrich, DanceXchange began with a simple idea:
“Beautiful costumes shouldn’t be worn once and thrown away.”
What started as a small concept run from her home has grown into a vibrant hub where dancers, parents, studios, and even non‑dancers come together to reduce waste, save money, and keep high‑quality dancewear in circulation.
And DanceXchange isn’t just for dancers — our costumes and accessories are perfect for parties, school events, themed days, festivals, dress‑ups, photo shoots, and any moment you want to add a little sparkle or fun. Versatility is part of our DNA.
The XCHANGE System
Our unique XCHANGE system is what makes DanceXchange truly special.
Bring in your preloved dance costumes, dancewear or dance shoes and we’ll help you trade them for items of similar quality and value. You can swap one‑for‑one, or your high‑quality item may equal a few lower level items — all for a low:
$10 Xchange fee for costumes
$5 Xchange fee for dancewear and/or shoes
It’s simple, fair, and designed to support families who want great costumes without the high price tag — while giving barely‑worn items a second (or third!) life instead of sending them straight to landfill.

Our Community
DanceXchange is more than a shop — it’s a welcoming space where parents, dancers, teachers, and non‑dancers feel supported and inspired.
We’ve proudly served customers from across 300 WA metro and country dance, gym, calisthenics, iceskating, rollerskating, cheer, hip-hop, ballroom, circus and aerial studios across nearly 10 years. We’ve even welcomed visitors from interstate and overseas, both in person and through our one‑on‑one virtual shopping sessions.
DanceXchange continues to grow because of the incredible community that believes in sustainability, affordability, and the joy of giving costumes a second life.
Boss Lady — Tania Emrich
Founder & Owner of DanceXchange
Tania Emrich has been part of the Western Australian dance community for almost 30 years, working closely with studios, teachers, competitions, and families across the state. Her journey began as a brand‑new dance mum — never having taken a dance lesson herself — suddenly learning to sew, design, and create costumes from scratch. What started as necessity quickly grew into passion, and over the decades Tania developed a deep, intuitive understanding of costuming, styling, and performance needs.
As a proud dance mum of a now‑professional dancer, Tania has lived every stage of the dance world — from toddler ballet buns and handmade costumes to the demanding professional pathway. She knows firsthand how overwhelming (and expensive!) dance can be, and she brings that lived experience into every conversation with her customers.
Long before DanceXchange, Tania ran another successful business BallerinaB.Bear, meeting dancers, parents, and teachers one‑on‑one at numerous competitions and events. Those early years gave her a clear understanding of what families truly need: support, affordability, guidance, and someone who genuinely understands the world of dance.
A Costuming Expert — WA’s Own “Dance Stylist”
Over time, Tania’s costuming skills evolved into a true specialty. She has become known for her ability to help dancers — and non‑dancers — find and create their perfect outfit to match a specific occasion or dance. Just like a Hollywood stylist crafting a signature look for a star, she sees every customer as unique, with their own personality and helps them find the costume and look at help them shine on or off stage!
Whether it’s a competition solo, a class exam, a school event, a themed party, or a festival performance, Tania has an eye for:

and the right “wow factor”
Her goal is simple: every customer leaves feeling confident, special, and seen.
10 Years of DanceXchange — A Community Icon
Now heading into her 10th year of running DanceXchange, Tania has built WA’s most loved eco‑friendly dance hubs. She has met families from more than 300 metro and regional studios, as well as dancers from interstate and overseas through in‑person visits and virtual shopping sessions.
Her knowledge of costumes, classwear, sizing, brands, competitions, and studio requirements is extensive — and she shares it generously with every customer who walks through the door.
A Mission Rooted in Sustainability, Affordability & Community
Tania’s mission has grown stronger than ever:

DanceXchange is her heart project — built on creativity, community, and the belief that dance should be joyful, affordable, and environmentally responsible and we all can look fabulous for less ( She also loves to dress up herself and knows how you can feel in a fabulous outfit !)
